CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor. CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution policy and aims to be 100% binary compatible. (CentOS mainly changes packages to remove upstream vendor branding and artwork.) CentOS is free.

We complement our official package sets with a community-operated package repository that grows in size and quality each and every day.

IUS is committed to providing up to date and regularly maintained RPM packages for the latest upstream versions of PHP, Python, MySQL and other common software specifically for Redhat Enterprise Linux and clones. EPEL is a dependency for using IUS. Another notable feature is that packages use non-overlapping namespaces(ie php52 php53) for clarity on exactly what you are running and will not overwrite the distribution release packages.
