NetCon Java NCterm requires that the Java 1.1.x runtime or development system be installed prior to the installation of NetCon NCterm. You can download a free copy of Java from; http://java.sun.com To install NetCon Java NCterm on a Windows 95 or NT worksatation; 1.) Verify that Java 1.1.x is installed try; "Start", "Run", "jre" this will also verify the "jre" is in your PATH. If you wish to use NCterm over IPX/SPX you must have NetCon 7.0 installed on you Unix Server. 2.) Download "setup.exe" to your workstation. 3.) Use "Start", "Run" to execute setup.exe. 4.) If you wish to use NCterm over TCP/IP select "TCP/IP protocol". 5.) If you wish to use NCterm over IPX/SPX select "IPX/SPX protocol" and the NetCon IPX wsock32.dll will be installed in the ncterm directory which Java will use in place of the normal TCP/IP wsock32.dll. 6.) If you selected "IPX/SPX protocol" and are running over IPX/SPX accept the defaults for Hostname and Telenet port (localhost, 23). If you selected "TCP/IP Protocol" and are running over TCP/IP you must provide the correct Hostname or IP address for the Unix server you wish to connect to. Accept the default Telnet Port (23) unless it has be changed on you Unix server. 7.) If you wish to have NCterm automatically login at startup fill in the User Login name and Password fields otherwise leave them blank. 8.) If you selected "IPX/SPX protocol" you will prompted for the name of the Unix server which has the NetCon 7.0 installed. 9.) Accept the default DEMO activation key or enter the Live Activation Key if you have purchased one. 10.) To start NCterm click on the "Java Ncterm" icon in the "NetCon Java NCterm" Program Group. 11.)
